Connecting with Other Writers

I had the pleasure of speaking about "Curating and Cultivating a Virtual Community of Writers" with the members of the Chester County Reading Association this afternoon. I talked about the ways blogging, microblogging, other digital technologies allow teacher-writers to interact with each other worldwide.

April Vacation

Here in Vermont, winter is white and sparkly, all jingle bells and sleigh rides. Summer is green and luscious, with blue skies and sunshine. Fall is golden and red and drop dead gorgeous. And then there's spring. Spring is a sort of grey area here--literally--everything is grey. The snow is melting, leaving behind grey pools… Continue reading April Vacation

I hope you didn't miss the BIG event on Saturday: Picture Books 10 for 10 hosted by Cathy Mere (Reflect and Refine) and Mandy Robek (Enjoy and Embrace Learning). Bloggers compiled their lists of 10 picture books and then shared the links with Cathy and Mandy. Cathy and Mandy then created a jog. With over 60 participants, it… Continue reading A “Jog” You Have Energy For

July Vacation

In an effort to make sure summer doesn't pass us by, we've decided to take a month off from blogging here at Two Writing Teachers again this summer. Today is the last non-Slice of Life Story Challenge post you'll see until Monday, August 5th. (NOTE: We'll still be hosting the Tuesday Slice of Life Story Challenge during the entire month of July.)

Friday Favorites

Unfortunately I don't have a photo from Favorite #1. Christy Rush-Levine and I met for a walk + dinner on Tuesday. Christy is one of those people who help me feel grounded and real. Favorite #2: Earlier this week Brenda Power from Choice Literacy visited Deb Gaby and me at school. As always, Brenda fuels me.… Continue reading Friday Favorites

Ten Tips for Creating an Electronic SOLSC for Your Students

A Note from Stacey:  I recently asked teachers who've led an blog-based Slice of Life Story Challenge, or SOLSC, with their students to share their expertise with me.  After all, I've only led a notebook-based Challenge with my students.  Two teachers, Amanda Cornwell  and Beth Scanlon, volunteered to write guest posts about their experiences about… Continue reading Ten Tips for Creating an Electronic SOLSC for Your Students
