Photo Fridays: An Opportunity to Write About Photographs

Late Sunset over Lake Winona

Originally uploaded by teachergal

I marveled, twice, about the fact that the sun sets later in Indiana than it does in Rhode Island (i.e. because it’s on the western part of the Eastern Time Zone). Therefore, after Ruth, Christi, and I parted from Jen, Cathy, and Sarah, I detoured to the banks of Lake Winona to take this photograph. (I believe I took it around 9:50 p.m.!)

We kind of lost track of time at dinner because the six of us were having such a good time. However, as I noticed the following night when Ruth and I were working on our NCTE Presentation, it’s easy to lose track of time in Indiana since the sun sets so late (Hence the reason we ate dinner at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night).

  1. We have been back a couple of weeks from a 3 week holiday in the UK. The middle week was spent in Scotland. There, it got dark at 11:15pm and got light at 4:30am so I can understand how you can lose track of time. Over here the days are just gradually getting longer in the evening. We experienced the heaviest frosts I have ever known on Tuesday this week. (We hardly ever get frosts here as we live 30 mins from the sea)

  2. Thanks for the plug and the photo and the words Stacey. I am working with our BOCES on a workshop for bloging and tech literacy and I selected two blogs I know and love to begin the blogging workshop with. One is Kevin’s and the other one is… Can you guess?
