I almost forgot to blog today. How could that happen? Let’s see, maybe because today —
- It is in the midst of summer and I was playing catch in the yard, eating pancakes with my family, and watching Herbie the Love Bug.
- I revised the ending chapter of my YA project from 5:45 am until 9:15 am. In a rare-never-before-occurrence, the kids all slept in and I was able to finish this latest draft. That means, with a few more tweaks to my query letter, I’ll officially take the plunge into the search for an agent.
- Christi and I worked all afternoon on the second half of our book, Celebrating Writers (Stenhouse, 2012). It is packed full of resources for 40 different celebrations you can try in your classroom. We are hoping to complete the draft by next week.
- I completed three more scrapbook pages, bringing my middle daughter’s School of Life album up to date.
- We just got word that our exchange student from Norway will arrive on July 20. She will live with us for the entire 2011-2012 school year. I took another load to Goodwill, finishing the preparation to her room.
- We made plans for the final projects to prepare for the softball team party we are hosting on Saturday: mulch, check; mow, check; water balloons, check; clean floor, check.
- The girls began thinking about packing for camp next week.
I hope your summer is filled with all kinds of goodness too. What have you been doing today?

I had a lovely, leisurely breakfast with two teacher friends. Then, I took my son to his half-day camp and spent the afternoon with my husband. I love summer!

It seems that you could check off some things that are important, like your YA project, and consider the day well done, but also having pancakes sounds lovely. I’ve spent a 5th day with my son and family in from Texas, and had his best friend and wife, my daughter and granddaughter over for dinner to visit with all of us. And it rained today, cooling things off for a thoroughly satisfying evening. Thanks for asking!
