Our Summer Schedule, New Newsletter, and Upcoming PD

It’s that time of year again! Our calendars are about to flip to June, which means it’s time for our annual summer vacation. For the next two months, our blog will feature posts only on Tuesdays because our Slice of Life community writes all year long. Make sure to link up on Tuesdays to share your summer slice-of-life stories.

Our New Newsletter

Leah Thomas, Melanie Meehan, and Sarah Valter will present at the Love and Literacy conference in St. Louis, MO, on July 14 and 15. They’ll each present multiple sessions; you’ll want to check out their joint session, “Writing Beyond the Classroom.” Click here to learn more about the conference.

Ana Valentina Patton will be presenting “Literacy, Numeracy, and Thinking: Leaning into Joyful Learning for All” at NCTE+NCTM, which is holding a joint conference in Charlotte, NC, from August 3 – 5. She’s also leading a virtual writing essentials PD this summer.

Looking Ahead

We’ve already begun to plan for the 2026-27 school year. We will kick off the school year on Monday, August 3rd, with our back-to-school blog series. The “Finding Common Ground” blog series will feature daily insights from the co-author team over the course of a single week. Each person will explore the balance between paired instructional concepts, ranging from foundational curriculum adaptation and cross-curricular writing to student choice and mentor texts.

The Two Writing Teachers Podcast will return for season five in October. Until then, be sure to listen to past episodes wherever you get your podcasts.
