Inspiring Writers.

My presentation, Inspiring Writers, is divided into a few different parts.

First, a read aloud:

Second , the slide presentation:

Next a writer’s notebook entry:  Make a list of things that make you happy.  Click here for inspiring tunes.

Then an excerpt from Penny Kittle’s new book, Write Beside Them.  (Note:  This chapter, It’s a Wonderful Life, is available for online viewing, however, there is currently an error with Heinemann’s site.  To find it go here and search the title.  Scroll down and you will find the link to the chapter.  As soon as I find it up and running, I’ll post the direct link here.)

Finally, an inspiring video, The 5.75 Big Questions You’ve Been Avoiding.  Make sure you print off this original coloring sheet which doubles as notes (which yours truly made).

  1. This looks like yet another great activity. Thanks so much for sharing. I listed you in my list of 7 blogs that I love to read-which in sense tags you for the award to pass on to your favorite blogs. Wish I was going to TX to see both of you present. I’m sure it will be great!

  2. Ruth,
You did an outstanding job putting together all the elements of this presentation. I could feel the power of your message — from the inspirational quotes, through the video and music and even the coloring sheet…and I wasn’t even there! As I think more and more about writing, I begin to see how writing can be such an integral piece of our lives. You are a master teacher and I am wishing I was one of the lucky teachers that get to work with you! Thank goodness for your generosity (and Stacy’s) through this blog; I am learning so much!

And I love, love the quote from Ali. I finally decided to have a similiar conversation in my head and recaptured my courage to write. That “red pen’ of my past no longer haunts me!
