Please drop the link your slice of life story. Remember to give some comment love to at least three other Slicers’ blog posts today.
If you need some inspiration to help you get started with your writing today, then consider this excerpt from Is This Anything, which is a collection of Jerry Seinfeld’s comedy bits that span five decades. (It’s a fabulous book if you need a laugh!)
Finally, early wishes for a HAPPY NEW YEAR. May 2021 be a better and healthier year for all of us!
I am a literacy consultant who focuses on writing workshop. I've been working with K-6 teachers and students since 2009. Prior to that, I was a fourth and fifth-grade teacher in New York City and Rhode Island.
I'm the author of Craft Moves (Stenhouse Publishers, 2016) and the co-author of Jump Into Writing (Zaner-Bloser, 2021), Welcome to Writing Workshop (Stenhouse Publishers, 2019), and Day By Day (Stenhouse, 2010).
I live in Central Pennsylvania with my husband and children. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, doing Pilates, cooking, baking, making ice cream, and reading novels.

For some reason, this blog post eluded me for days. I’m still not satisfied that I conveyed the message I intended when I started writing it, but here it goes anyway! Gotta keep on writing! https://elisawaingort.com/2020/12/30/theres-a-new-me-this-year/
Sitting outside on our first tiny apartment’s patio grading essays on a Saturday morning, I firmly decided I’d fake the hell out of self-love. I teach students how to become better readers and better writers, but I also hope to teach them just how worthy and capable they are by modeling my own magic.
Y’all – I missed THREE WEEKS of blogging. I don’t know what I was thinking. But today I’m thinking about pivoting & what that means for educators. How do you pivot? https://persistenceandpedagogy.com/2020/12/29/pivot/
