Welcome to Day 20 day of the 12th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge! Please check out today’s announcements and the “Be Inspired” post and quote before you leave the permalink to your slice of life story.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
PLEASE JOIN US IN THIS IMPORTANT CONVERSATION
The team at Two Writing Teachers has been working hard to make our work more inclusive and representative of multiple perspectives. Please join us in this work. Read Monday’s post to find out more.
BE INSPIRED
I am always floored by Natalie Louis’s writing, who blogs at Not Just Kidding Around. When I visit her blog, just like hanging out with her in person, I know I’ll either be laughing so hard my gut hurts, or reaching for tissues. She has a way with words, and knows how to take just a small, tiny moment, and create a meaningful piece of writing from it. In this post, The Loss of a Boss, she weaves together song lyrics, a memory, and her reflections to create something absolutely beautiful.
Writing can be so powerful for handling the hard moments in life. Just like Natalie took something gut-wrenchingly sad, and made something beautiful out of it, you can control your narrative. And you can show your students how they too, are the writers of their own life story.
