My father is not a writer nor does he work in education. However, he reads Two Writing Teachers daily. He asked me about the SOLSC yesterday. He wanted to know how everybody was doing, if people were still enthusiastic about it, and whether or not we were losing Slicers because writing daily was feeling cumbersome.  If you’ve looked at the daily calls for slices at the end of each day, then you already know I had a positive report for him. I told him our community was thriving. I’m delighted so many people are sharing their writing here and commenting on each other’s blogs as well. 

Speaking of which, were you busy commenting a lot this weekend? Be sure to fill out the Google Form on the Commenting Challenge post if you left lots of comments this weekend.

  • Possible Solutions to Saturday’s Disappearing Comments Issue:
    • Fran McVeigh asked some IT folks about the problem at an EdCamp she attended yesterday. While none of the people she spoke with were familiar with our particular commenting issue, several stated a lack of “enough” working memory could be an issue.  If you’re like me, you probably keep many apps open on your iPad/iPhone. Try closing the ones you’re not using before you try to leave comments from your iPad/iPhone.
    • If that doesn’t work, then Amy Rudd has a solution to the iPad/iPhone commenting issue. Here’s what she e-mailed me over the weekend:

I have the same problems sometimes when I am commenting on blogger blogs with the ipad or iphone.  Here is what I do to combat the problem:

1.  When I go to a blogger blog, I make sure I click the link at the bottom of the blog screen that says “view web version”.
2.  To move the cursor in a different spot in the comment to edit, I have to click “done” then I go back and re-insert the cursor where ever I needed to fix or edit the comment.

LeAnn “Elsie” Carpenter is returning for her fourth year of the Slice of Life Story Challenge. Recently she wrote a post, “314,” that was inspired by seeing a number in her present-day life. She allowed that number to take her memory back in time. It was interesting to travel back in time with Elsie and it was all because of a number she saw.
