More Read Alouds

Up and Down by Oliver Jeffers. Philomel Books (a division of Penguin Young Readers Group). 2011. Cover art used with permission.

I fell in love with Oliver Jeffers’ work when I came across THE INCREDIBLE BOOK EATING BOY. So it is no surprise that I was drawn to the whimsical illustrations in UP AND DOWN. When I read the book the story did not disappoint. It is a story of adventure and friendship and in the end being thankful for the simple relationships in our lives.

Here’s a little video to give you a flavor of the book. If you don’t want to buy a new book, you might not want to watch the video!

Hopper and Wilson by Maria van Lieshout. Philomel Boks (a division of Penguin Young Readers Group). 2011. (Cover art used with permission of the publisher.)

HOPPER AND WILSON by Maria van Lieshout is another sweet friendship story. Hopper and Wilson decide to find out what waits for them at the end of the world. What they find is home at the end (and the beginning) of the world.

Keep your fingers crossed that I can find a few classrooms that will open their doors & give me the privilege of reading aloud.
