Tonight Andy and I spoiled Stephanie. Together, just the three of us, we bought new gear for softball season. Pink cleats. Pink mit. Pink gear bag. Not-pink ling socks. Black shorts. She loves softball. I like seeing this part of her develop. I’m thankful she has a place where her strong-will, competitive nature, and drive to be first will be accepted.
I am struck by how quickly she is growing up. Changing. Becoming herself. I’m glad I get to see the process. I’m glad she’s my daughter.

I can hear how much you enjoyed being vicariously spoiled in the words you chose for your slice. I especially enjoy the rhythm of your last paragraph. The staccato sentences, the repetition…effective language.

I love it! Pink! My daughter was shocked to hear that her feminist mother likes pink and decided that a pink cover for her BB was better than a red one so we scoured several stores before we found one that fit!

Your reflection at the end captures your emotion. You are lathering her with love and acceptance and cheering on her passion. I so want to see her play. Love the alliteration in your title. Your one word sentence – changing – says so much. It made me stop and think of my kids.

This is a wonderful slice–and a wonderful thing for you and Andy to do for Steph. I love it. I bet she did too! It’s good hear that she has a “place”–somewhere she gets to shine.
And pink with black….hmmm…seems I’ve heard that combo somewhere else…. 🙂

I love the sense of fun “oh what the heck, you only live once!” indulgence. And I love all the girl power pink. What a fun slice of your day!
