Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Third Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge. Ruth and I were delighted to have new people join our growing writing community for the challenge last month. Click here to view the recipients of the drawings.
We hope you’ll continue writing anecdotes about little slices of your life by participating in our weekly Challenge, which we hold here every Tuesday.

I’ve given myself the challenge of trying to write a poem a day, the way I did last year. This year, instead of writing tanka, I’m trying a new (and for me, much more difficult) form, the rhyme royal.

Thank you for hosting and encouraging the Slice of Life Challenge. I had three students participate with me this year and all three wrote every day. I gave them their writing gifts (fun notebooks and pens) this morning. The younger sister of one saw the gift bag and said, “What’s that? I want one!” Hope she takes the challenge next year!
