We did a Poetry Pass for the first time during Interactive Read Aloud yesterday. I wanted to do it so that I could get the kids writing about a ‘heavy’ poem I presented them with, which is one of the texts in our voice/silence text set.

They did a simply amazing job with responding, in writing, to each other. Therefore, I took their responses to the Poetry Pass home last night and immediately put them on 12″ x 12″ paper so they’d stand-out in the hall. I posted them this morning and MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Parents and other fourth graders were out in the hallway reading through the papers on display this afternoon.
