Stacey’s challenge for WNW last week made me pause and think.
According to the Merriam-Webster Website (one of my favorites, by the way), Pride is:
1: the quality or state of being proud: as a: inordinate self-esteem : conceit b: a reasonable or justifiable self-respect c: delight or elation arising from some act, possession, or relationship
I choose to go with c. for this entry. So the delight in my life arising from some act? It is actually delight arising from many acts. Many small acts. Many small acts that seem insignificant at the time. But together add up to big meaning.
I’m trying to impact the world by simply caring about people. And I’m trying to be intentional about letting people know I care. As Stacey wrote in her last wn entry, “It makes me think that we are making a small difference in the world of teaching writing.”
That makes me proud. Making a small difference. In the world of teaching writing and in my school system and my community and my family and my home. And hoping all those small differences add up to big meaning.
Mother Teresa: We can do no great things, just small things with great love. It is not how much you do, but how much love you put into it.
Unhurried. Finding the magic in the middle of living. Capturing a life of ridiculous grace + raw stories.
