HipWriterMama wrote a very inspiring post last year, which she reposted yesterday. Click here to read it. The line that resonated with me the most was:
Take yourself seriously. Treat your dream seriously. And by the way, it is totally okay to allow people to treat you and your work with respect.
It’s important for all of us to follow our dreams and honor our passions. I, for one, am going to get back into ceramics in the new year by taking a course one night a week. I know I need to honor my creative side, which really fuels me. I will keep writing and keep teaching for I truly love the work I do.
One thing I hope to accomplish more of in the new year is to spend more time with family. It’s been hard since I’ve moved, but that’s what school vacations and long weekends are for, right?!!?
So, I give you the same charge as HipWriterMama gave her readers. In her words, they are:
What are you going to do today, this week, this month, this year, to take yourself seriously? For the sake of your dream?
Perhaps that should be the theme of the writing we all do for tomorrow’s Writer’s Notebook Wednesday. I know this is something that deserves a little more time, attention, and thought from me (tomorrow).
