I’m celebrating life, not morning after a 9-day trip with family to memorable sites my husband wishes us to visit.

Congrats, Erika on starting your 34th year in teaching. This fall will be #40 for me! It still boggles my mind whenever I think about that. So many experiences over those 40 years. So many children. So many colleagues. I love the field of education. Yet, since last year I’ve been on a .5 teaching schedule as an interventionist. I love that I only teach and get to enjoy all of the kids at my elementary school, but I do miss the classroom. I hope you have a great year!

I loved this post, Denise. Your, first poem was brilliant. I loved the line breaks and the message. While it seemed your first poem was angry and defiant, all in good ways, I found your second poem was reflexive and sad, yet equally powerful. I’m going to try the prompt of your first poem. Thank you for sharing.
