Let’s keep the momentum going!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- This weekend, I will focus on commenting on the blogs of new(er) Slicers first. If you’re new (or new-ish) to our writing community, please let us know when you leave the link to your comment! This allows our long-time members to warmly welcome you. By the way, to our seasoned Slicers, I’ve noticed how many of you have been graciously welcoming our newer Slicers. Your warmth is truly appreciated!
- The daily “Call for Slice of Life Stories” starts at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (New York time). We consider the day to end at midnight Eastern Time because we have participants from six continents. Comments can close as early as midnight the next day after the post has been live for 24 hours. If you share your slice-of-life story link after 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, please post it in the next day’s call for slice-of-life stories.

Amy,
I just turned 60, so your “teaser” caught my attention. Your poem reflects how so many of us feel, and in our culture, it feels like “elders” aren’t always revered.
Your use of dialogue and inner thinking create a sense of immediacy to this moment, and the metaphor of the old trees being discarded for something young and full of promise–so true.
Thank you for this.
