An Online Writing Experiences
Hosted by the Co-Authors of
Two Writing Teachers

  • I’m applauding your participation in this month’s writing sharing!
  • I’m commending your commitment to being part of this online writing community for a month!
  • I’m celebrating the start of the 17th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!

During the first half of the challenge, we’ll share a daily tip at the end of the announcements section. Additionally, you’ll find a section called “BE INSPIRED” after each day’s announcements, featuring a link to a slice-of-life story and sometimes a quote about writing.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Orange Slice Logo for Slice of Life Story Challenge
Write. Share. Give.
  • A warm welcome to the new Slicers joining us this year! Please include “I’m a first-year Slicer” in your comments for the next few days so our longstanding community members can greet you.
  • Please complete this year’s sign-up form by 11:59 p.m. EST today. The form will close tomorrow morning, March 2. Participation for thirty-one days is vital to uphold the spirit of the month-long challenge.
  • The daily “Call for Slice of Life Stories” starts at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (New York time zone). We consider the day to end at midnight Eastern Time because we have participants from six continents. Comments can close as early as midnight the next day after the post has been live for 24 hours. Usually, the daily call for slice-of-life stories stays open until the following day because our co-author team is asleep at midnight. If you share your slice-of-life story link after 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, please post it in the next day’s call for slice-of-life stories.
  • Multi-Lit Fridays are back this year! Participants are encouraged to blog in another language. The first Multi-Lit Friday will be on March 8.
SOLSC Tip of the Day
Tip #1
Get creative with your idea generation! Try different approaches like viewing your life through a specific lens, checking out the BE INSPIRED posts on daily calls for slice-of-life stories, or embracing a wide-awakeness as you navigate through life.

BE INSPIRED

Longtime Slicer Erika Victor enables us to walk alongside her with this slice-of-life story containing vivid images of her tuk-tuk ride home. Not only is this an exemplar for leading a wide-awake life during one’s commute, but it’s a story that will restore your faith in humanity.

    1. Hi Lisa! Friendly reminder: If you hit enter between your teaser and your link, you will see a box with a post preview (like your comment today). Unfortunately, these previews clog up our comment section, making navigating our site difficult for some users. If you use a period or just a space instead, that won’t happen next time. Thank you!

      1. Hi Glenda, No matter what I do this is happening. There seems to be some glitch maybe with wordpress? I have been doing this for years and understand how to post a link properly. But it’s not giving me that option this year. I am getting a huge text preview box. Unable to post day 2 until someone helps me figure this out.

    1. Sara, I couldn’t comment on your blog post, but wanted to come back here to welcome you and tell you how much I loved your post as you slowly but surely joined the Slice. I can already tell how distinctive your writing voice is – can’t wait to read more!
