Author Spotlight Series

The 7th Annual #TWTBlog Author Spotlight Series

For the next week, published picture book authors, graphic novelists, and middle-grade authors will take over Two Writing Teachers to share their thoughts on writing, their writing processes, and the path to publishing with you. Here’s who will be joining us each day:

  • On Sunday, Aisha Saeed will share her writing inspiration and the relationship between authors and young readers.
  • On Monday, Alice Faye Duncan will share three overlooked resources for biographical research.
  • On Tuesday, John Schu will share a post about the joy of reading, writing, and connecting with students.
  • On Wednesday, Gavin Aung Than will share the process of creating his middle-grade graphic novel series.
  • On Thursday, Ying-Hwa Hu will share about the sunny walk in San Francisco’s Chinatown that brought about the creation of her author-illustrator solo debut.
  • On Friday, Elly Swartz will share how true authenticity and emotional resonance are the secret sauce in her writing. She’ll also talk about how important it is for children to dream big and understand that rejection doesn’t define them.

Every Author Spotlight post will include a giveaway of each author’s latest book. A couple of the authors also included 20-minute Zoom conversations as part of their giveaway for their post. Be sure to leave a comment about each author’s post for a chance to win the items being given away in their post.

This is the seventh year Two Writing Teachers is hosting the Author Spotlight Series. It’s my hope you’ll meet some new authors, add some new titles to your classroom library, and share their posts with your present and future students as a source of inspiration.

Finally, speaking of inspiration, click here to read a post from Kathleen Sokolowski, which explains how she has used past Author Spotlight Series posts with her students.
