Also, my mom wrote on her blog again, and I’ve been so busy I didn’t even realize it! She’s becoming a blogger! 🙂 Thanks to all those who have left such encouraging comments for her. Being a principal is so time-consuming, and you’ve really helped her see the value in carving out a little time for blogging.
Her latest post is about being positive and finding happiness: http://everystudenteveryday.blogspot.com/2013/08/in-pursuit-of-happiness-one-day-at-time.html

Just a comment here (because I hope lots of people will see it): I am taking another year off to stay home with my kids, but I need something teacher-ish to keep my brain busy…or make it busy again…or something. Are there any Ontario teachers here who have taken the Writing AQ? How was it? Does anyone else know of a good online “teaching writing” course I could take without actually starting a master’s degree? Thanks in advance. 🙂

Hi Lisa,
I think Stanford Univ. offers some online PD for writing that isn’t for a master’s degree. (At least they used to.) Check it out and lmk.
My best,
