I’m looking forward to the next few days. It’s a workshop where old meets new. I’ve been leading beginning writing workshops for nearly a decade. I’m looking forward to making some shifts to include Common Core thinking, while at the same time holding on to the aspects that make workshop powerful. Tomorrow is all about getting to know Common Core, routines and procedures of workshop, as well as being a teacher who writes.
Participants will read an excerpt from chapter one of That Workshop Book by Sam Bennett. It’s a great foundation for workshop — both reading and writing.
Here’s a little more about the workshop…
Wawasee clearly understands what true professional development is. I have no doubt your workshop will be transformational for those teachers. I especially enjoy your sneak peeks into your presentations through your slides.

Oh how I wish that I could join you. A workshop devoted to middle school writers! It doesn’t get better than this. Hopefully we can get some nuggets here on the blog. Have a great week!
