This week my students are reflecting on the drafting process (of their memoirs) more than they’re sharing at the end of Workshop time. I wanted to have-a-go with them reflecting, in lieu of sharing, for just a week, after reading”Academic Resilience and Reading: Building Successful Readers” in Vol. 62, No. 5 of The Reading Teacher. The authors of this article referenced Nancie Atwell’s conclusion (i.e., It’s important for teachers to provide students with opportunities to evaluate their work.) from her 1998 Book In the middle: New understandings about writing, reading, and learning in the writing section of this informative article. Here’s the sheet my kids are using to help them reflect on themselves as writers this week.
