Link Your Slice of Life Story Here!

However, if you stopped by to submit the link to the Slice of Life Story you wrote for today, then Ruth and I have yet another little surprise for you. One lucky participant in today’s Slice of Life Story Challenge will receive a little gift the mail since yet another Etsian has generously donated an item her shop for today’s Slice of Life Story Challenge Participants. (She’s donated a second item for the month-long Slice of Life Story Challenge too!)

Joan from reChinafication donated a beautiful glass coaster for you to place next to you (to protect your desk or table from your hot coffee mug or tea cup).  Joan’s coasters are all studies that she’s doing to prepare for a large mosaic installation that features stained glass flowers, as well as small toys and bric-a-brac on a field of stained glass.  Instead of playing around with samples that weren’t functional, she decided to turn the samples into coasters.  Quite frankly, I think both of the coasters Joan has donated to the SOLSC are gorgeous.  Here’s the one that she’s giving away today:

The mosaic materials are signatures of Joan's work. The petal colors are favorites. The brass beadchain, which is more commonly seen hanging from fans and lights to turn the fixtures on or off, is an element you see in almost all of Joan's mosaics. Newer to the scene is the bling -- cubic zirconia -- which she can't get enough of.

  1. Hi all,
    Sorry I’m late. I have a head cold and I have been moving to a new site called: http://www.digitalbonnie.com with the help of course, from someone who knows how to make that move.
    She is creating a one-stop-shopping cyberspace for me, so you can click around from one of my sites to the next.
    So far I haven’t decided on a homepage format but change is exciting. Seems like I am writing my slice right here, doesn’t it?
    Anyway, that change has held me back from my Tuesday routine. And my head cold hasn’t helped.
    I can’t wait to read all the posts I’ve missed.

  11. My Slice of Life is a confession that we are all trying to do our best, but often may fall short of our expectations, and, sometimes, I should just keep quiet- a tough lesson for me.
    Last Friday was a beehive of excitement- the day before a vacation and Valentine’s Day all at once! I stopped by one of the first grade classrooms and visited for a few minutes.
    “T. , you need to take your hood down.”
    He turned his sweet face to me and his huge brown eyes filled up just a little.
    He pulled his hood down, as I had requested- and here’s the hard part for me- I didn’t really request, but demanded in his seven year old thinking.
    T. uncovered his shaven head, just as I asked.
    I had forgotten how embarrassed he was about his new haircut.
    The teacher called me to task later, and rightfully so.
    Although she would never contradict me in front of the children, she made me resolve to be more sensitive in the future, and reflect a moment before I speak out.
