Imagine my surprise as I stood in line at 6:15 behind more than 40 others waiting to vote. I quickly began calculating . . . two booths . . . 3 minutes per person . . . I’m going to be here for awhile. As I waited in line, my first reaction was that of annoyance. After all, I have things to do. I have to get to work. I have a long drive.
Then I reconsidered.
After all, I have the right to vote. Simply because I am a citizen, I am allowed to vote. Then I began considering all of the other rights I have simply because I am a citizen. I continued listing throughout my wait.
Waiting for an hour was a small price to pay for all of the rights and freedoms I have.
Regardless of the outcome of today’s election, the simple fact of the matter remains: It is an honor to be a citizen of this country where I have more freedoms than I had minutes to wait in line to vote.

I so agree with you Ruth. Can’t wait to have a new president.

I have a few minutes between PTCs, which means I won’t be able to write my SOLS until this evening. Let’s just say I was #5 on line and was done by 7:08 a.m.!!! Strange, but true.
