We’re happy to be hosting “Day in a Sentence” here at Two Writing Teachers this week. If you’re new to “Day in a Sentence,” which is similar to “Poetry Friday,” then just follow these steps:
Boil down your day (or your week) into a single thoughtful sentence.
Use the comment feature on THIS post to post your sentence. (Please note, we moderate comments here at TWT since we’ve had a lot of spam in the past. Therefore, if your comment doesn’t post immediately, don’t worry, it’s just in our queue.)
Check back here on Sunday, 8/3, for a compilation of every participant’s “Day in a Sentence.”
Want to add a twist to your submission?
For an extra-added, writer-ly, twist, try using the strongest verbs possible this week.
For an extra-added, artistic twist, try creating a digital layout using a program like Smilebox or Creative Delights.

A day of small pleasures: rolling hills seen from a train window, lying on the grass and watching leaves on the trees at lunchtime, a red butterfly appearing on the carpet out of nowhere, a joke from a loved one making me laugh out loud, a purr from the warm bundle of a cat on my lap.

My day in a sentence which is not verbally exciting as my brain is cyber addled is as follows:-
After meeting raine22 from Boston on classroom20, she amazed my class with the presentation she prepared about our little known town, of Hawkesdale in Australia and by careful questioning over a virtual classroom, prised answers out of my students who probably did not realize that they had in fact become ‘teachers’ and not students.

I have been lucky enough to participate in the A3WP course at UC Davis this week and learned not only how to create a blog, wiki, google reader account and about digital story telling!
So much excitement in one sentence. Looking forward to being a teacher with all of these tools.

I stumbled upon your site while looking for info on writing to begin new school year. I was so touched by your entry on the student with numerous behavior modifications.
You love children, see the individual and your depth for understanding/compassion is admirable. Most would be surprised if they knew there are teachers that simply show up each day in order to pick up our sad little paychecks. They never touch the lives of those that need them most.
Switching schools continually throughout the years can do so much damage to those so young. They never have the opportunity to develop roots ~ security.
I imagine you will be hearing from your former student throughout the years. He won’t forget you, he knows you had a vested interest in him.

After slaving all day over my keyboard, face in an obnoxiously bright computer screen, I fielded car accident and physical therapy treatment phone calls, until finally after five I could escape to the comfort of my home, lock the door to my room, and sink into my own keyboard, face in an obnoxiously bright computer screen.
