What’s in your pocket?

Today is “Poem in Your Pocket Day.” When I taught in NYC, this was the equivalent of a holiday. Lots of fun activities and special events took place on this day. Seeing as I’m on vacation today, it made me a little nostalgic for those days in New York when I would celebrate this special day with my students.

Poets.org has an awesome feature set up for Poem in Your Pocket Day this year. You can print out pocket-sized poems to keep or to share with friends. (Another cool poetry-related download page on Poets.org can be found by clicking here.)

So, enjoy Poem in Your Pocket Day.

  1. Ahhhh…thanks for sharing. I wish I had known earlier about a poem in your pocket day…I so would have carried one! I was only at school long enough to teach my mini-lesson and confer with a few young poets before I had to leave to go to a literacy coach meeting off campus so I didn’t have internet access all day 🙂
Oh well…I marked it in my calendar for next year!
