A One Week Poetry Challenge

I was thinking about starting this Challenge on Saturday, 4/12 and ending it on Saturday, 4/19. 8 days, 8 poems. Are you in? If so, please leave a comment. (I’ll post some charges/poetry writing ideas each day in case you’d like the inspiration… However, you can/should write in any poetic format you’d like. Finally, I will use Mr. Linky each day of the Challenge so you may view other people’s poetry writing.)

I am a literacy consultant who focuses on writing workshop. I've been working with K-6 teachers and students since 2009. Prior to that, I was a fourth and fifth-grade teacher in New York City and Rhode Island.   9. A challenge…OK. I’ll do it! We like writing poems together in class and I need to get them to finish a few to enter in our boards “Poetry is You” contest. The deadline is coming up.

  10. I’d like to give this a try, too. I know that as a writing teacher I should be writing more. I also know that it is difficult to find poetry at the levels of some of my beginning readers, so maybe I should just write some of my own!

  16. I am in…I LOVE writing poetry! I have 2 notebooks that I just write poetry in but I haven’t written since I written faithfully since I started grad school a year ago…and this will get me back into it! ~ Thanks for the challenge…
    I did post one of my original poems last Friday…it is about my Lighthouse adventure that I went on over my my spring break…

  19. I’m in. I’m doing the PAD challenge at Writer’s Digest…but would love to add another challenge to my poetry month agenda. I look forward to seeing your prompts. (PS… I have a poetry submission challenge going for April too.)
