POETRY CHALLENGE

I like challenging myself and my students with their writing. So… in honor of National Poetry Month, I thought about creating a week-long poetry challenge since I’d like to create more poetry of my own to share with my students during minilesson demonstrations. Hence…
A One Week Poetry Challenge

I was thinking about starting this Challenge on Saturday, 4/12 and ending it on Saturday, 4/19. 8 days, 8 poems. Are you in? If so, please leave a comment. (I’ll post some charges/poetry writing ideas each day in case you’d like the inspiration… However, you can/should write in any poetic format you’d like. Finally, I will use Mr. Linky each day of the Challenge so you may view other people’s poetry writing.)

  1. A challenge…OK. I’ll do it! We like writing poems together in class and I need to get them to finish a few to enter in our boards “Poetry is You” contest. The deadline is coming up.

  2. I’d like to give this a try, too. I know that as a writing teacher I should be writing more. I also know that it is difficult to find poetry at the levels of some of my beginning readers, so maybe I should just write some of my own!
