Art Appreciation (Picture Books)

I had the opportunity to visit The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts today. For someone who like me, who is obsessed with picture books, spending 90 minutes at this museum on a Sunday afternoon was definitely a treat! There was a big exhibit there on the Spiderwicks, which didn’t interest me that much since I’m not overly familiar with that series. That being said, I LOVED looking at the originals of Eric Carle and Leo Lionni’s Artwork, which was on display in one of the galleries.

The Museum’s Library and Bookstore were both a treat for the picture book lover in me. (It took a lot of restraint not to buy anything.) However, the place I really adored the most was the Studio, where you can create your own art projects. I spent some time making my own stamp. Then, I used multiple colors of ink to decorate a piece of paper. This was the masterpiece I created:
