Mapping Our Hearts

Heart Map Display

My demo was too long. And because of that, the entire day ran late. HOWEVER, we had an amazing Writing Workshop where my students crafted maps of their hearts (Thanks to Georgia Heard!), which visually illustrate the most important things to them.

Here’s a photo of them all hanging up in the hallway (some finished, some to be finished tomorrow). I’m pretty pleased with the way they came out. I photographed each one, will print them out as a 5×7 and will give them to each student tomorrow so they can place it in their writer’s notebook as a reference when they need something to write about.

  1. What a great idea to photograph these and place them in their writer’s notebooks. I’ve done this mapping activity before and it is very insightful about the children and makes a perfect jumping spot for writing.

  2. I’ve been trying to come up with an idea on how to post this kind of stuff & yet still make it possible for kids to hold on to it in their writer’s notebook. What a perfect solution you’ve developed! Thanks, Ruth
