I haven’t been feeling well for the past few days and wasn’t going to slice today. But then my son came home from school with a red envelope for the Lunar New Year (from his friend) today. I had to write a slice because I wanted to show the magic that happens when children embrace each other’s cultures. https://raisealithuman.wordpress.com/2026/02/17/the-year-of-the-fire-horse

Denise, I have a multifaceted perception of AI. I know we cannot stop if from what it does (an will do in time). I know writing as we know it will be different for students, teachers, lawyers, doctors, journalists,….I have used it to create tests and help with syllabi but never rely on it as the mistakes – are NUMEROUS. I have also used it and encouraged students to use it as a tool for writing IEP goals; however, my efforts are to use it as a beginning that MUST be revised and specified as it is NOT personal. I fear for the mistakes from students and teachers and reporters and senators and presidents as well as those writing ads and those writing medical reports. I think AI asks us to look critically at all we read and see…..perhaps that is the teaching point of the future. Then there are the environmental concerns….sigh…thanks for bringing up a big issue in today’s world.

Hi Melanie! I tried to comment on your blog, but it kept failing.
Wow, Melanie – this is such a good idea. I’ve been watching the Olympics too. It’s amazing the years of dedication athletes put into it. I’m drawn to the ice skaters, but I was thinking about the curlers. Where in the U.S. are there curling rinks? How do you get into a sport that is not well-known? Things I’m thinking about!
