Congratulations! Today is the sixteenth day of the 17th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge, which means we are now officially more than halfway through! I am happy to host for the next few days as we progress through the challenge.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
No big announcements for today, just a reminder to go to the mirror, look yourself in the eye, and remind yourself that YOU are doing a GREAT JOB.
BE INSPIRED
One of the biggest hurdles for me during the Slice of Life Challenge is coming up with something to write each and every day. At times, it seems daunting to put my work out into the world with that degree of regularity.
Fortunately, there are fellow slicers like Donnetta Morris of TeacherReaderWriter. I always enjoy her thoughtfulness and sincerity, and her recent post, “Why I Can’t Write this Slice,” is a perfect example of the spirit of the Challenge. The beauty of the March Slice of Life Challenge is that we can have fun with our posts. We can recognize that life (or in Donnetta’s case, canine friends) may thwart our original intentions to craft Daily Pieces Of Literature. We can still choose to find art and connection.
And if you, like me, sometimes wonder what it is you’ll write about, consider making that your Slice for the day.

Short on ideas and staring down the clock after a busy day, I suddenly remembered a poetry class I took in which we wrote blues lyrics. I really had no life experience that led to anything sensible as a blues song, so I wrote my “I Ain’t Got Nothin’ To Sing About” blues. In that spirit, I wrote today’s slice: The Saturday Nothing Blues. https://karpenglish.wordpress.com/2024/03/16/the-saturday-nothing-blues/
