Write. Share. Give.

Today is the seventh of the 17th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge! It’s also my final day hosting. Betsy Hubbard will take over for the next few days. Jenna Komarin, Lainie Levin, and Sarah Valter will host the challenge later this month.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Start thinking about bringing your students into the Slicer community. Put the 12th Annual Classroom Slice of Life Story Challenge, which happens in April, on your radar. See the overview post for more information. Fill out the sign-up form when you’re ready to begin.
  • Remember to leave comments for Slicers on THEIR blog, not in the comments section of TWT since they may not see it there.
  • Many thanks to our Slicer Troubleshooting Team, Glenda FunkFran McCrackinJoanne Toft, and Peter von Euler, who helped out for the past week! Be sure to visit their blogs if you haven’t already.
Engage and connect! Respond to comments on your blog to foster authentic conversations with fellow Slicers.

BE INSPIRED

Amanda Potts shared a lovely slice-of-life story about a positive call home she received from her son’s teacher. Perhaps her story will inspire you to call a student’s home today to share good news. Who knows… it might even lead to a slice of your own!

    1. I tried to comment but the blog site wanted all kinds of information from me, so I’m not sure the comment posted. In case it didn’t: I know we ate this kind of cereal when I was a kid – definitely remember Cap’n Crunch at our house. Looking back it seems amazing that my mother let us eat these sugary cereals for breakfast.

    1. I love the analogy! The whirring laptop fan and the 317 open tabs…that’s exactly what being overworked feels like! Good for you! I hope to hear more about your Reset! This was fun and inspiring to read.

    1. Oh my goodness…this is so beautiful. I had chills reading it. The description of your dad is just the right mix of details to give us so much information about who he is. What a wonderful ritual for a man to do with his children. The essence of story…taking meaning from life. This will stay with me. Thank you.

      1. Hello! Please leave comments for the author on their blog post, rather than here in the call for slices. The author of the post will not see your comments here! (And it makes navigating the call for slices more challenging). Thank you!

    1. I did that, too. After my description sentence I started putting one (space bar) space then pasting my link. That resolved it. I did put 1-2 (return/enter) spaces. Good luck.

  1. I’m over the deadline for 3/6/24 so I’ll end up with two posts today. And I keep having trouble attaching my link – apparently I attach a preview which clogs this feed. So if you want to read my post, just head to wakeupandwrite.wordpress.com
