So many memories are made in November.
Cynthia Rylant’s brilliant picture book, In November, has always felt like a slice-of-month story to me. Her lyrical text and vivid imagery evoke the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and warmth of this time of year with a specificity that inspires me as a writer. I want to curl up under a blanket with my laptop and a spicy chai latte, capturing moments with heart and truth as she does.
So much life happens in November.
So, today, on this first day of November, I invite you to craft a slice of life story (in any form), share a link in the comments section below, then read and comment on the stories of at least three other slicers. Let’s kick off this new month with the reverence it deserves.
Let’s slice.
November is here, but my mind is still on October 31st! https://wordancerblog.com/2022/10/29/halloween-magical-read-alouds/

I haven’t posted in a while — and it’s been a while since I have written. This is scattered and piece-y, how I find November, so maybe it’s fitting. https://heidiallum.wordpress.com/2022/10/30/an-open-letter/(opens in a new tab)

Thanks, Amy, that does work. Sally Donnelly suggested I use ellipses before the link, and here you just use a period. I think my dash might be the problem. I didn’t notice i had changed how i was doing it!
