It’s a Boy! Share your Joy!

its-a-boy-2We have been on pins and needles over here at Two Writing Teachers as Stacey’s due date approached. We have all been anxiously checking our email and text messages for news. Today we are so happy to announce the arrival of Stacey’s son, Ari Frederic.

Ari was born at 7 lb 14 oz and 20.5 inches long. Both Ari and Stacey are doing well.

As Stacey and her family settle into their new life as a family of four, we would like to offer her some words of joy and celebration. If you have a favorite quote or poem to share with Stacey, please leave it in the comments below. We know Stacey will appreciate reading your words of joy and celebration.

Congratulations to you and your family, Stacey! We are all so happy for you!

Love,
Beth, Betsy, Dana, Deb, Kathleen, Lisa, and Melanie

  1. I’m so happy for you! My baby boys are 17 and 15 now. A friend once advised me to find joy in every phase, from infancy to adulthood. She said that each phase of their lives, no matter how different, still brings joy. I have found much wisdom in those words.

  2. It’s a favorite poem, Stacey, Marc, Isabelle & to Ari – Congratulations and best wishes!

    Baby

    George Macdonald (1824–1905)

WHERE did you come from, baby dear?
Out of the everywhere into the here.

Where did you get those eyes so blue?
Out of the sky as I came through.

What makes the light in them sparkle and spin?
Some of the starry spikes left in.

Where did you get that little tear?
I found it waiting when I got here.

What makes your forehead so smooth and high?
A soft hand strok’d it as I went by.

What makes your cheek like a warm white rose?
I saw something better than any one knows.

Whence that three-corner’d smile of bliss?
Three angels gave me at once a kiss.

Where did you get this pearly ear?
God spoke, and it came out to hear.

Where did you get those arms and hands?
Love made itself into bonds and bands.

Feet, whence did you come, you darling things?
From the same box as the cherubs’ wings.

How did they all just come to be you?
God thought about me, and so I grew.

But how did you come to us, you dear?
God thought about you, and so I am here.

  3. Dear Stacey, Marc, Isabelle and Baby Ari-
I am so overjoyed for you all! This is the start of a beautiful new chapter in your lives as a family and I can’t wait to hear all about it! Rachel Platten’s song “A Better Place” makes me think of how you must feel- it’s a better place since Ari came along.

    Lyrics:
I’ll tell the world, I’ll sing a song
It’s a better place since you came along
    Since you came along
Your touch is sunlight through the trees
Your kisses are the ocean breeze
Everything’s alright when you’re with me

And ah ah ah ah ah, you’re my favorite thing
Ah ah ah ah ah, all the love that you bring
But it feels like I’ve opened my eyes again
And the colors are golden and bright again
There’s a song in my heart, I feel like I belong
It’s a better place since you came along
It’s a better place since you came along

I see the whole world in your eyes
It’s like I’ve known you all my life
    We just feel so right
So I pour my heart into your hands
    It’s like you really understand
You love the way I am

And ah ah ah ah ah, you’re my favorite thing
Ah ah ah ah ah, all the happiness you bring
But it feels like I’ve opened my eyes again
And the colors are golden and bright again
And the sun paints the skies and the wind sings her song
It’s a better place since you came along
It’s a better place since you came along

    Ah ah ah ah ah
    Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
    Ah ah ah ah ah
    Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Now I’m alright, now I’m alright
    Everything’s alright

Cause it feels like I’ve opened my eyes again
And the colors are golden and bright again
There’s a song in my heart, I feel like I belong
It’s a better place since you came along
It’s a better place since you came along

  4. Beautiful! So so so happy for you Stacey, and for your whole family. Wishing you unending joy and a little bit of sleep. The whole Children section in Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet:
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
    Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

  5. Congrats! Looking forward to arrival of our first grandchild in November & your news is a glimpse of future happiness. The most consistent advice that my husband & I heard with our two children was to savour these years as time does fly!!! 🙂

    with your children again
    TOMORROW
they will be a little older
    than they were today
    this day is a gift
    JUST BREATHE and NOTICE
    smell and touch them
study their faces and little feet
    PAY ATTENTION
relish the charms of the present day
    enjoy TODAY”

    1. Congratulations on your little boy. Having raised only one child (at home), a boy, I have to say it was more than a joy to watch him grow and unfold as you already know with your daughter. Be prepared for how different they will be and my friend shared some wisdom with me which I never forgot….and I think it is valuable. She had 4 at least all under the age of 6….she told them that the most important job they had in the world was to love each other. They were family and it was important to do that always, they would need each other throughout life and she would repeat this often, if not daily. And she would model that love for each of them with her beautiful smile. I think that is a message and you are wise and strong and I know you will have wonderful insights and stories and sharing. So happy for you and all the wonders this will bring to all of your lives.
