Welcome to Day 16 of the 4th Annual Classroom Slice of Life Story Challenge!
If your students are writing for the Classroom Slice of Life Story Challenge, this is where you will post the link to their writing!
Looking for Slice of Life writing ideas? Here’s a slice about a scary situation; it was written by Maddie for our sixth grade March Challenge a few years ago:
A Close Call!!!
My brother and I were running around my grandparents’ house. They had taken us to church while my parents were at a birthday party with my two other brothers. My family wasn’t back yet, so we were still at their house after church.
Here is what I LOVE about my grandparents taking us to church: When we are really good and quiet, we get a treat afterwards! I chose Smoothie King as a treat. Here is the best part of my decision… My Grandpa LOVES Smoothie King! He lets me get whatever I want! I got a small banana berry treat smoothie and he got a King sized PB&J sandwich smoothie, and a bag of chips. We shared the chips at his house while we drank our smoothies.
“Hello”, my Grandpa said, into his cell phone. “Madie and Griff, settle down!”, “What was that?” He was talking to my Dad about what time he would be there to pick us up. While chatting on the phone, he glanced at the bag of chips and his eyes suddenly widened. He turned to bag towards me so I was able to read “fried in peanut oil!” It was printed in big letters on the front of the bag, how did we not notice it before?
After several nervous minutes, all of the panic was for nothing… I was fine! It turns out that if it is fried in peanut oil, I can eat it regardless of my allergy because the oil only adds flavor, it doesn’t affect me for whatever reason. What a relief!
Reminders:
- If you haven’t read the Essential Information post, then please click here to read it now before you post the link to your students’ slice of life stories. Don’t forget to keep your students’ identities anonymous for their protection.
- If your students are slicing from their personal blogs, then you should link their blog posts together using your classroom or personal blog. Then, share the permalink to the location of the “round up” of student slices. (Click here for more information on how to do this.) Individual students CANNOT link here directly. Students who are under 18 must have an adult linking for them. Any student links left without an adult link will be deleted.
- Only post the link to your students’ slices of life here. Do not post the link to your personal slice of life stories here. Go to the daily call for individual slice of life stories to post your personal slice.
- If this is the first comment you’ve left on Two Writing Teachers, then we will have to moderate your comment. We will be checking throughout the day in order to get your links up for the community as soon as possible. As long as you use the same username/email to log in going forward, your comments should appear instantly in the future.
- Any questions, please contact one of us.
