It’s been a long day at Literacy for All. We each attended great sessions (which I’m sure you’ll find out more about in upcoming blog posts), presented two different sessions, and are now putting our finishing touches on our NCTE presentation. Don’t we look ready to turn-in for the night?

Today my son will be 21. Seeing the picture of you brings back many happy memories of pregnancy and his childhood. He was a perfect child, and well on his way to an amazing man. He nor his sister have rarely given us cause for worry or concern, other than the usual day to day struggles, such as school work, schedules, and busy lives. I’d like to take credit for it all, but raising a child with the compassion and feelings that these children have is a joint effort of family and friends.
Grandparents are a treasure that I hope every child can have, and the love, life lessons, and traditions you get from them are worth more than any degree you receive from a college. .
My hope for my son as he passes to manhood is the ability to carry with him always the love he has been given, to feel the pride his father and I have for him, to find a love that will endure a lifetime, and to remember to write every day, to find his passion and live it through words and stories. He is 21 today, a junior at OSU, a leader in his chosen degree of Rangeland Management, and he and his sister are the greatest things I have ever accomplished in my life.
My hope for your unborn child is a life of stories passed from generation to generation, and the ability to feel their value.
