What a great mentor text for 7th and 8th grade readers and writers! It offers engaging and relevant (!) subject matter (at least for those wild and wacky middle schoolers) and provides a great format for discussing text structure with students. In addition, what a great “starter” for those reluctant writers…and my non-readers will hoard this book!

Hi, I have great difficulty getting boys in the 5th grade enthusiastic about choosing independent reading material. This might seem off the wall but from experience with my 11-year old nephew, this would be the perfect solution. They’d just love it. Thanks for sharing

This is perfect resource for some of those kids who don’t like to read. I’m sure they would be able to find something of interest to read. Then perhaps they would be motivated to write something equally gross. Thanks for sharing and crossing my fingers for the drawing.
