Kevin, Creator of Day in a Sentence, used a new technology, Jog the Web, to showcase everyone’s posts this week. I was fascinated with the ease at which I was able to navigate through the websites of the Day in a Sentence Contributors. In fact, I liked Kevin’s Jog so much that I created a short Election 2008 Jog for my students. Want to check it out? Just click here to start jogging through kids’ campaign land.
I see endless possibilities with Jog the Web. A Social Studies/Current Events Jog was my first thought, but now I’m starting to think of ways to use Jog the Web with regard to Writing Workshop. The first idea that pops into my mind is for use during a poetry unit of study. You can have students jog around to look at different sites for mentor poems that you might not have inside of the poetry books you have in your classroom. Another idea would be as a means to do research (i.e., fact collection) for feature articles. If you have ideas, then please post them by commenting on this post.

Ditto, Stacey. This is my kind of jogging. My kids are writing and building four different webs with a half-dozen pages each. This will be a great way to create a grand tour. Thanks, Kevin!
