What’s on your heart?

Yesterday a fourth grade classroom I work with kicked off their poetry study by mapping their hearts (sans Georgia Heard).  Stacey & I did this a few months ago for WNW.  This is a great way to kick off poetry in the intermediate grades, because it allows a focus on emotion.  As Fletcher says, “Poetry is a container to hold all of our emotions.”  What better place to begin than a map of our hearts?
