ruth’s wn entry: loving autumn.

(photo taken on Monday, October 29, 2007 from my back yard)

There’s something about this time of year that resonates inside of me.  I think it’s the slowing down of it all.  The preparing for what’s to come.   The changes outside that make me think about the changes within.

Today I noticed the tumbling leaves, the harvested fields, and the crisp air.  I was reminded to slow down and to notice autumn.  And through this noticing, I was reminded to slow down my living too.

These are my plans to celebrate Autumn:

  1. Sit by the fire with a warm cup of tea and a good friend.
  2. Kick and scrunch and crunch leaves with my husband and son.
  3. Watch a sunset, wrapped in my favorite hat, scarf, and mittens.
  4. Take my dog for a long walk, soaking up the crisp air.
  5. Eat an apple.  Outside.  Absorbing the blue-blue skies.

  1. Thanks for your pause of refreshment. This next month I feel really hurried and strained. Today at school (not a good day which should have been started with a Stress Task Force meeting instead), I told myself to slow down and take it as it comes. There’s nothing else one can do. Health is wealth.
