I’m finally using it today!

I’m finally using that notebook. You know, the one with all of the recopied entries, today in my WW Demo. (Here’s an image of the entry.)

However, since 2005 I’ve added a few things to my firsts and lasts chart. Unfortunately, seeing my grandmother for the last time, in the hospital, could go on this list. That being said, I’m not sure how I’m going to phrase this in my minilesson since my notebook reflects what I wrote in 2005 (I made sure to keep the old dates when I did the transfer).

So, now I’m thinking… maybe the recopying wasn’t the swiftest idea. It takes the genuineness out of sharing my stories with my kids. Hmmmmm… maybe this notebook should just be used for collecting real stuff… new stuff!

Should I rethink this AGAIN!?!?!

I admire you for this post. I am blessed to see the thinking behind your teaching decisions, because I’m becoming a better teacher from it. Thanks for being brave & bold in “taking off the top of your head” (as Atwell describes sharing our thinking).

I agree, it makes a lot of sense to collect new stuff with your notebook & live in an authentic way as a writer.

I’m looking forward to reading more about the evolution of this notebook.
