Out by me the weather is warmer, school has just let out, and the summer spreads before me like a picnic blanket.
Today I’ll share a bit of inspiration for the poets out there, rooted in the tradition of Margaret Wise Brown’s The Important Book:
The important thing
about a poem
is that you write it.
It conjures up dreams,
images,
puzzles you sometimes,
turns your head
a different direction to say
look!
See this thing?
See what you’re missing?
See how I’ve made you
observe the world
in new eyes?
But the important thing
about a poem
is that you write it.
So what have you observed, thought, wondered, or imagined today? Share a link to your post, and don’t forget to read and comment on the work of others!

a lot of my friends have moved away over the years, a sad poem. But we can tell I’m already in summer mode since I got the date wrong and misspelled the main theme of my poem every time I wrote it 😅https://bulletsandblanks.wordpress.com/2025/06/10/loneliness/

I’ve been thinking a lot about my achilles heel the past moth and found a metaphor/symbol in these thoughts juxtaposed w/ reflections about Egypt. Of course I’m sharing pictures: https://glendafunk.wordpress.com/2025/06/09/we-all-fall-down-sol25/
