Welcome to the thirteenth day of the 10th Annual Slice of Life Story Challenge!
If you’re sharing your students’ slice of life stories, please head over to the Classroom Challenge.
Announcements
Do you ever wish you could connect to more slicers? Is there someone out there whose story you should be reading but you’re missing it because you scrolled too far? The co-authors had a conversation via email the other day and Kathleen Neagle Sokolowski had an amazing idea to help more teachers connect. Kathleen suggested using Padlet! “The Padlet of Slicers could be something you check out to see who looks interesting that you haven’t visited yet,” said Kathleen. We all thought it was a great idea and Kathleen got to work. Below is a video explaining how to use the Padlets and insert your information. It is quite simple even if you’ve never done it before. The link to the Padlets can be found at the bottom of these announcements.
Click here to visit the Padlets and insert your information!
BE INSPIRED
- Kim Parker, from Single Mom So Far, describes a detailed account of her child playing while she makes dinner. In her story, Pretend, you will hear beautiful and endearing language and you will feel her love for her child. It really is these simple moments in time that we often are given the silent opportunity to just notice and watch as the story unfolds.
- Click here if you need topic ideas.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
Username:
Please use the SAME email/username information on all of your March comments.
Prizes:
Prizes will be given away at the conclusion of the month-long Slice of Life Story Challenge. You’ll be eligible for a prize if:
1. You fill out the participant data form, which went live on February 19th.
2. You comment ONLY ONCE on the daily call for Slice of Life stories (3/1 – 3/31/17).
3. You sign a Slice of Life Story Challenge Participation Pledge on April 1st. (We’ll post the pledge and will ask you to “sign.” You’ll sign by leaving a comment certifying you wrote and linked daily, as well as commented on at least three other Slicers’ writing daily.)
- In order to be in the running for a prize at the end of the month, you must leave the link to your slice of life story by 11:59 p.m. EST to be eligible for prizes.
- Only links left before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time will count when you’re signing-off on the participation pledge on April 1st.
- The call for slices goes up at midnight EDT. Everyone has the same 24-hour window to post, regardless of the time zone in which they live.
- Please play fair and leave only one link each day.
