Will We Be Seeing Each Other?

Just a little nod to the All-Write Summer Institute…

I hope if you are coming, you will say, “Hi” to me. I mean this. If you’ve never met me in real life, you may not know that I’m a tad bit shy. Before blogging and presenting and writing books for teachers, I would never have went up to someone whose stories I read online or in a book and said, “Hello.” Now that I’m on the other end of things, I wish I did that more.

I want you to know it means something special when people introduce themselves and tell me they read what I write. I write because I want to make the world a better place through story. It feels like dreams really do come true when I meet people who read my words and then decide to write their own words.

There’s a good chance I know who you are (especially if you comment), so it’s not really about saying hello to a stranger, but meeting up with a friend. You wouldn’t just walk by your friend, would you? Stop and say, “Hello.” I promise I won’t act like you’re a creeper. (I learned that word from my teenager friends.)

More importantly, if you are  connected through blogging or Twitter or Slice of Life or any other way, please consider joining us for dinner on Wednesday evening at 6:30 in Warsaw, IN. There’s a sign up (that is now working — sheesh!) on Google Drive. Click here for more details and to sign up.

Hope to see you in a few weeks!

  1. Just got the ALL WRITE program schedule…so excited. The entire Manchester Elementary non-creeper second grade team will be there and will come give you hugs and hellos!

  2. I wish I could be there. Will be writing with teachers at San Jose Area Writing Project, then giving a week long open program on primary writing for Common Core, and then going to Westchester for a conference on PD. Sigh. And here’s my post about how much I am looking forward to reading…
