The first step in blogging is not writing them but reading them. -Jeff Jarvis
Tomorrow is back to school. Therefore, it will be a great time to talk about the importance of commenting with your students. Giving feedback is one of the most important parts to making the Slice of Life Story Challenge meaningful, both as a reader and as a writer. If we become better writers by reading, then we become better bloggers by reading other people’s blog posts.
Details:
- If your students are slicing from their personal blogs, then you should link their blog posts together using your classroom or personal blog. Then, share the unique URL to the location of the “round up” of student slices. (Click here to find out what a unique URL is.)
- Only post the link to your students’ slices of life here. Do not post the link to your personal slice of life stories here. Post your personal slice of life story over at the daily call for individual slice of life stories.
- If this is the first comment you’ve left on Two Writing Teachers, then we will have to moderate your comment. Ruth and I will be checking throughout the day in order to get your links up for the community as soon as possible. As long as you use the same username/email to log in going-forward, your comments should appear instantly in the future.
- Any questions, please contact one of our concierges. (Click here for more information on how to work with our concierges.)
If your last name begins with A – G, then your concierge is Linda Baie. Linda’s e-mail address is lindab414[at]gmail[dot]com.
If your last name begins H – M, then your concierge is LeAnn Carpenter (aka: Elsie). Elsie’s e-mail address is leannecarpenter[at]sbcglobal[dot]net.
If your last name begins with N – S, then your concierge is Bonnie Kaplan. Bonnie’s e-mail address is blkdrama[at]mac[dot]com.
If your last name begins with T – Z, then your concierge is Carol Wilcox. Carol’s e-mail address is carwilc[at]aol[dot]com.

Hi everyone! Here is our class link to slices on their blogs. We are in a completely different time zone so we had to adjust it a bit to work for us. 🙂 Thank you to all who have been leaving comments on my students’ blogs!

Student slicers! I think it was a bit tough having a weekend right away! Here’s hoping I’m able to connect with my writers this week and help them stay motivated and learn how to link up to my posts! 🙂 Thanks so much! I’m encouraging them to visit and comment on other students’ pieces as well!

I’m not sure if anyone is going to post today or if they’ll be writing in their notebooks. But, just in case, here’s the link:

I have never been so excited for Monday to come. Thanks to everyone for commenting. My students will be so excited and will definitely be commenting tomorrow. Friday was a weird day for us. I have one student who wrote this weekend, a lovely poem for her brother who died last year: http://kidblog.org/SliceofLifeChallenge/fa0e83cb-0fb8-46a9-bc39-b71f017baef7/the-last-memories/

Lee Ann: I started making the rounds to classroom slices yesterday. I’m just getting on to the Bear English site today. Is it possible for me to comment on your students’ slices or do I have to be part of the class? Thanks!

Jaana, I love how your student’s are taking turns! It makes me think that I should tell students who are having difficulty to find a partner and do just that to get started. If today is like yesterday, our corral will fill with links by mid-afternoon: http://bearenglish.ning.com/profiles/blogs/observe-watch-color-slice-of-life-day-3-of-31
