Here’s what’s filling up my brain…

On Wednesday I’ll be joining educators at the Literacy in Motion Conference at Judson University. If you are there, make sure to say, Hello!

I hope you enjoyed your time at Judson University today. As an educator in the audience, I found your positive attitude, your beliefs about writing, and passion for “nurturing, nudging, and strengthening” children to be inspiring. I also believe that celebrating our students’ successes, no matter how small, can help them grow and become passionate about literacy. We all need encouragement, especially in areas such as writing since we are extremely vulnerable as we share our thoughts, hopes, and dreams. I look forward to reading your book and working closely with my colleagues to help foster this love for the written word in our children, as well as in ourselves. It was great to meet you today!

Love the little daily celebrations of student writing. When a student begins to use punctuation on a regular bases, a link is made to another text they are reading or the big one for me at the end of the year was when several students said “We haven’t done Slice of Life this week – why not? Can we take time to write now?” These are the moment to moment celebration that I love and share with students!
Enjoy your conference – please share more!
