When authors have a book published, they often have a book party at a local library or bookstore. When Day by Day came out my school hosted a book party for me. For the end of the year celebration, two second grade classes and one first grade class came together for the Best Book Ever Party.
Kids sat in pairs, one the reader and the other the listener. After the reader finished the book and they had a conversation, the listener went to another reader and listened to another book. Halfway through the celebration, the listeners and readers switched. This way everyone read their books multiple times and they were able to listen to several books. At the end we had cake, because every decent book party has cake.

Nice party! Reading and Sharing, it could add up to their read lists.

It’s a wonderful idea, to mix up the classes too. Then they would see even more different ideas. A special time!
