ruth’s memoir monday: birth announcement

just a week old
just a week old

Last week I spent time putting ephemera in order and was compelled to document the memory of the time spent waiting to be cleared to come home after the birth of our son.  I made all of his birth announcements, which I included on this page.

The photo lifts to reveal:

So very precious.  Those few days in Ohio gave me time to just hold you, study you, cuddle you.  We quickly adjusted to a new routine . . . eat, snuggle, sleep . . . eat, snuggle sleep . . . with many walks (even in the cold February air) thrown in.  You were a good little sleeper, so I was able to make all of the birth announcements while waiting to bring you home.  I was touched byt the number of visitors we had while waiting in Ohio — someone everyday and Dad made the two hour drive each day to work and back to us.  We expected to have to wait through the weekend for our paperwork to clear, but we were given permission to go home on Friday afternoon.  I can still remember the pure excitement in taking you home.  And thent he surprise as our close friends and parents welcomed us home with a pizza party.
