Empowering the Voices of Ten Girls from East Harlem

I’ve had a few inquiries (personally and online) about how I went about publishing DEAL WITH IT! Powerful Words from Smart, Young Women with my former students. Well, I wrote a proposal on DonorsChoose.org, which got funded by a very generous author (whose name I cannot reveal). That being said, if you’re so inclined to try something like this out, I encourage you to read the prologue of DEAL WITH IT first, since the road to getting these girls published was a long one! You’ve GOT to have the right group of kids to do something like this with. If you think you have some really dedicated writers, then go for it! (LMK if you need any advice. I’m happy to help, tell you about our experience, etc.)
