  1. Hi Stacey,

I just read your comment on our BRG blog, thank you for offering your spelling list! I am looking for lists closer to a 1st or 2nd grade age level, if you have one along those lines I’d LOVE to see it!

    Thanks again,
    Anna

  2. Writing on Water

    By Andi Neihoff

    “Wow!” I gasped

As the curtain slid across the track

Opening my eye’s to God’s beautiful painting of today

Soft, warm hues of pink, orange, and yellow

Brushed across his palette, the sky

    Puffy, white clouds

    Blotted the rays of color

    Into the distance

My eyes seep in the view

    Noticing the crystal blue water

    Rippling toward the shore

As I step onto the balcony

A gentle breeze sweeps my hair against my cheek

    Awakening my senses

    Geese honk, “Good morning”

    To all of God’s creatures

While they swoop down to gather their morning meal

    Pontoon boat motor’s muffled roar

    Ceases into the horizon

The lake water tickles my nose

    Reminding me of my mission

Here at Paris Landing-the Writing on Water Retreat

    My mouth waters in anticipation

  3. I have been working on this narrative in my notebook along with my class. Here goes:

    8-22-07
    Missions Work at ECV

Sweat is beading on my forehead. My heart pounds on my insides (thump, thump, thump). I think my stomach may burst. Two loving, gentle eyes greet me as I enter the village of orphans.
There was a slight tug on my shorts directing my attention downward. Crispen was there with outstretched arems wanting me to hold him. Me. A complete stranger. He wanted me to hold him. I scooped him up with a whooch and felt instatnly like I belonged.
Several otehr children gathered around the the playing began. The next hours were filled with laughter and joy. The kids gave me a tour. I took pictures to attempt to capture the moment. The children would squeal with excitement as they saw their image appear on the viewing screen; many seeing a picture for the first time. They took turns holding my hands as we moved and interacted.
English verses Shona. Language didn’t matter. The pounding in my hear changed as I dove into the tiny lives surrounding me. I was elated….where will the kids take me? What will our next adventure be? Sure, something new will make me nervous, but I know my insides will change.
