ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Each day’s “Call for Slice of Life Stories” opens at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time. If it’s before midnight in New York, post your story link on that day’s post. After midnight, use the new day’s post. Comments usually close after 24 hours, but may stay open a bit longer if our team needs more time.
  • We had another Classroom SOLSC yesterday! Students around the world would welcome your comments if you have time to read and respond.

BE INSPIRED

It never ceases to amaze me how broad and varied our Slice of Life community is. We have writers contributing and collaborating from every corner of the globe. We’re a mosaic of talents, experiences, cultures, and languages.

That’s why Darlyn Martinez, of Little Big Drafts, appeals to me. She’s a bilingual Spanish / English writer. Her post, “Slice of Life Ends,” beautifully moves between English and Spanish. I’m not fluent in Spanish, but it didn’t matter. The beauty of the memory she shared struck an emotional chord.

She’s got me inspired to bring more of my own culture and heritage into a post, and I encourage you give it a shot as well.

  33. Hope is the Thing with Feathers. Come for the photos of beautiful herons and egrets, stay for the haikus of War and Peace. Or vice versa. Bonus connection: some of my Dad’s memories related to the Vietnam War.
